The K.H. Renlund Foundation has supported mineral exploration and related geological research in Finland for over 100 years.
The current statutes define the objectives of the Foundation as follows:
The objective of the Foundation is to promote the exploration for and exploitation of ores and useful mineral resources, technically exploitable rock and earth materials and groundwater deposits in Finland and, as far as possible, to provide guidance which may facilitate their exploitation and use.
This can be done by:
– By carrying out geological studies on mineral deposits, rock and earth resources or water resources.
– Publications or other information activities aimed at stimulating public interest and supporting education in areas close to the Renlund Foundation.
– By awarding grants to individuals whose activities are of interest to the Foundation and in accordance with its statutes (the broad category of “layman’s activities to postdoctoral studies” applies here).
The following clarification has been made to the interpretation of the Statutes:
– The rocks and sediments include by-products of the extractive industry.
– The Foundation is also interested in geological issues, including environmental issues related to mining and extractive activities.
– The Foundation’s interests do not include environmental or water-related research problems that do not involve geological or geochemical aspects.
